If only we had reverence at the top. That would make all the difference in our world. Reverence of everything, people, planet, universe, ALL of it. I love how "They ALWAYS have their Admirals backs" too... yup, they just throw those backs right under the wheels of the bus.

Good thing we didn't need to tell those sharp shooters that they did NOT have to follow orders that would commit crimes.

Douglas, I would bet at some point in your childhood, you were told by people who loved you enough to set you a good example, that telling the truth was what grownups did. Maybe even that real men told the truth. Trump and Hegseth have displayed nothing but contempt for DEI, for anything "soft" or "sissy." Trump brags, ridiculously, about his physical condition and his golf game; Hegseth lectures his senior command officers, who have actually seen combat, about the "warrior ethos." But when it comes time to man up and admit what you've done, they act exactly as you said. "It's somebody else's fault." --A friend of mine, an Air Force chaplain for 24 years, says, "I'm just glad I'm not on active duty." --Real men do not throw their subordinates, who were carrying out their orders, under the bus. An earlier president, a man who had served on the front in World War I, was famous for saying, about himself, "The buck stops here." We expect that of our presidents. We should!

Exactly. Used to be the ‘American way.’ Before we started trying to ‘make America great again.’
