SIMPLE WORDS
IT DOES NOT MATTER what country or culture such a proverb comes from. Its name is Wisdom. Ethics. Dignity. If these simple words were hung in the Trump regime’s cabinet room, and noticed and taken seriously and followed, then a state of suspended animation would ensue. All words and actions would cease. Completely. Because of the nature of the words and the nature of the people in that room. Nothing further—absolutely nothing—could be said or done.
And that would not be a bad thing. Not bad at all

I was thinking about Trump this morning. (Hard to think about anything else, though thinking about him is frightening and exhausting.) The really scary thing is that I believe Trump thinks everybody is just like him! Just as venal, just as self-obsessed, just as greedy! Other people, he thinks, say this other stuff because they are "fake", they are part of a "hoax". Really, everybody worth paying attention to is just secretly saying,"What's in it for me?"--Or, I guess, they are just Losers. --And his cabinet members and advisors are either of similar conviction themselves, or they believe they serve some Higher Cause, of which Trump is somehow the agent. --So the executive branch of our government is almost entirely controlled, either by venal, corrupt, toadies, or by religious nationalist fanatics! --And I don't know which is scarier. Thank you for being around, and for talking sense.
